2 DAYS IN NEW YORK CITY

"I look out the window and see the lights and the skyline and the people on the street rushing around looking for action, love, and the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie, and my heart does a little dance"
-Nora Ephron

A few months ago I went on a short 2 day trip to New York City with my sister, Ivana
(+ our parents). We wanted to go see Jeff Daniels and Michelle Williams perform David Harrower's one-act play "Blackbird" at the Belasco Theatre and luckily playbill.com was selling tickets at a discounted price so we planned, packed, and drove to New York City. I could go on forever talking about how fulfilling it was to see two of my favorite actors perform an extremely well written one-act play on Broadway. I could also go on forever about happy I was when I got to meet them! But I won't talk only about that because, even though our only real reason for visiting New York City was seeing "Blackbird" somehow those two days turned into the best two days I've ever spent in New York ever, and not just because I got to meet two people who inspire me every time I see them
on screen. I've heard that the first 10-15 times you go to New York City you spend most of your time looking up in disbelief thinking "How did humans even build something so massive" and "the empire state building must have been built by mind controlled
dinosaurs" because seriously that's how tall the buildings are. New York City never seizes to amaze me; the food, the architecture, the people (Who beyond popular belief...actually are kinda nice sometimes).
We went to so many places in two days I could hardly catch my breath but I was alive and it was the most alive I had felt in a very long time. The coolest places in New York City are the places that seem very small but have a lot of character and originality packed into them. CW Pencil shop in China Town is the cutest little stationary shop, and when I say little I mean tiny x2. Walking into this little shop the size of it actually surprised me. In CW Pencil Enterprises they sell notebooks, pens, erasers...but the best part are the pencils. Apparently there are people out there who love pencils to such a degree that their willing to travel to shops like "CW Pencil Enterprises" to buy pencils
from all over the world. I ended up buying a 2 tiny public supply books, a high quality charcoal pencil, and cute little elephant print eraser. All of which were packaged in an envelope and tied off with a cute little string. Next we went for ice cream at "The Juicy Spot Cafe" (also located in Chinatown) .You may have heard of it if you watch "Unique Sweets" on the cooking channel. The juicy spot isn't your typical neighborhood ice cream shop. At the Juicy Spot ice cream is rolled, not scooped using a method created in Thailand. This place has the most chill and happy atmosphere I've ever felt in an ice cream shop, the first thing they said when we started ordering our ice cream was "Whipped Cream is best for Instagram photos" I loved that!
We also stopped by earwax records in Brooklyn looking for Florence and the Machine's latest album but ended up picking up Låpsley's latest album instead. I grabbed a chocolate covered hazelnut bar from the pop-bar, bought Japanese candy from Midoriya in Brooklyn, had the most delicious chocolate doughnut at doughnut plant (I highly recommend the "Brooklyn Blackout" or "Matcha Green-tea" doughnut), Spent 10 minutes in central park near the Japanese cherry blossom trees, tried Shake Shack for the first time, ate a questionable hamburger from a time square food cart, took a photo of Banksy's street art, and finally experienced the 4 story Forever 21 heaven in Times Square. When I got home the next day I put on my new Låpsley Record, sat on the edge of my bed, starring at my signed playbill and then at all my New York City things thinking "well...That was amazing" I went to bed realizing how unforgettable every day spent in New York City really is, how I'd like to live there some day so I can wake up everyday feeling exactly how I was feeling then...blissful
